Tyneline

Since 2014

Twelve cars
at a time

Tyneline started in a two-bay unit off Stockton Road with one car on the front and a ramp borrowed from the unit next door. The model has not really changed.

The unit

Small on purpose

One room, a desk, and whatever is ready to go out. There is no finance office and nobody will be sent over to talk to you about paint protection.

The idea

Buy fewer cars, and know all of them

A large forecourt has to fill itself. Buyers take cars because the space needs stock, preparation gets compressed to fit a turnaround target, and the person selling you the car has never driven it.

We hold twelve. Ross buys every one, Priya prepares every one, and Callum has driven every one before he shows it to you. When you ask a question on the forecourt, the answer comes from somebody who actually knows.

It is a slower way to sell cars. It also means we almost never take one back.

Who you will deal with

Three of us. You will speak to at least two.

Ross Tindale, Founder at Tyneline Automotive

Ross Tindale

Founder

Fifteen years in franchised sales across the North East before starting Tyneline in a two-bay unit in 2014. Buys every car that comes into stock.

Priya Dhillon, Workshop manager at Tyneline Automotive

Priya Dhillon

Workshop manager

Time-served technician, ex-independent German specialist. Runs preparation and signs off every car before it is advertised.

Callum Reay, Sales at Tyneline Automotive

Callum Reay

Sales

Looks after viewings, test drives and handovers. Will tell you not to buy something if he does not think it suits you.

Since 2014

We hold twelve cars, not two hundred. Each one is bought on its history, stripped back in our own workshop, and put right before anybody is invited to look at it. That is a slower way to sell cars and a far better way to own one.

Questions we get asked

Can I view a car without booking?

You are welcome to call in during opening hours, but we would rather you booked. Cars are often out on test drives or still in the workshop, and a booking means the one you want is washed, charged and waiting on the front.

Do you deliver?

Yes — anywhere in mainland UK. Delivery within 30 miles of Seaham is free; beyond that it is charged at cost and quoted before you commit. Every delivered car still comes with the seven-day exchange.

Can I have the car independently inspected?

Please do. We will give an AA, RAC or independent inspector full access to the car and the ramp, and we will not sell it while an inspection is booked.

Is the car ULEZ and Clean Air Zone compliant?

Every car on this page states its emissions standard. Petrol cars meeting Euro 4 and diesels meeting Euro 6 are compliant with London’s ULEZ and with the Newcastle and Sheffield Clean Air Zones. Fully electric cars are exempt everywhere.

What paperwork comes with the car?

The V5C, every service record we hold, the full MOT history, the 140-point inspection sheet signed by whoever prepared it, both keys where the car has two, and your warranty documents.
