The workshop

Preparation is the
whole business

The workshop exists to support the cars we sell, not to fill a diary. Every car goes through the same six stations, and nothing is advertised until the last one is signed.

The process

Six stations,
every car

The inspection sheet from station two travels with the car and is signed off at station six by whoever did the work.

  1. 01

    History before handshake

Before we buy, we run the full HPI and MOT history, check the service record against the mileage, and walk away from anything that does not add up. Most cars we look at never make it here.

  2. 02

    140-point inspection

Every car goes straight onto the ramp. Brakes, tyres, suspension, cambelt interval, fluids, diagnostics, structure and underside — recorded on a sheet that comes with the car.

  3. 03

    Mechanical preparation

Anything flagged is fixed, not noted. Consumables are replaced rather than measured to the limit: if the pads are at 4mm they come off. Genuine or OE-equivalent parts throughout.

  4. 04

    Service and fresh MOT

A full service with the correct oil specification, and a new MOT so you start with twelve months rather than whatever was left. Any advisory is dealt with before the test, not after it.

  5. 05

    Detailing

Two days of paint correction, decontamination and machine polishing, then a sealant. Interiors are steam-cleaned. We photograph the car afterwards, in daylight, with nothing hidden.

  6. 06

    Road test and sign-off

Thirty miles on a mixed route — town, A-road and the A19 — by whoever prepared it. It is only advertised once that person has signed the sheet.

Why it matters

Most of what goes wrong with a used car in its first year was visible on a ramp before it was sold. Somebody either did not look, or looked and decided it was the next owner’s problem. Both are a choice.

Aftercare

Everything below is included with every car, at no extra cost, and none of it is an upsell at the handover.

01

12 months Tyneline Assured warranty

Included with every car at no extra cost, covering mechanical and electrical components. Repairs can be carried out here or at any VAT-registered garage in the UK.

02

First service at cost

Your first service with us after purchase is charged at parts cost with no labour. It keeps the car in front of the people who prepared it.

03

MOT for as long as you own it

We will MOT any car we sold you, free, every year you keep it. It is the cheapest possible way for us to know our preparation was right.

04

Seven-day exchange

If the car is not what you expected, bring it back within seven days and under 250 miles and we will exchange it against anything else in stock.

Servicing

We would rather keep seeing the car

The workshop is open to customers for servicing, MOT and repair work after purchase, and we would far rather you came back than went elsewhere — not for the money, but because a car we prepared and then maintained is the best evidence we have that the preparation was right.

Your first service with us after purchase is charged at parts cost with no labour, and we will MOT any car we sold you free for as long as you own it.

  • Servicing to manufacturer schedule with the correct oil specification
  • MOT testing, free annually on any car we sold you
  • Diagnostics, brakes, clutches, cambelts and suspension work
  • Air conditioning service and re-gas
  • Detailing and paint correction by arrangement
