Our view
A Cooper S in the right colour combination with the manual gearbox, which is getting genuinely hard to find — almost everything built after this went automatic-only.
Two owners, twenty-one thousand miles, full MINI history. We have replaced the front discs and pads, changed the oil and the brake fluid, and had the air conditioning re-gassed. The gearchange is tight and the clutch bites where it should, which is not always the case on a car that has done most of its miles in town.
Worth saying: the Sport specification rides firmly on the seventeen-inch wheels. If you are coming from something softer, take it down the Stockton Road before you decide.
