Our view
The Clubsport is the Golf GTI worth the extra — the same 2.0 turbo turned up to 296bhp, with the front differential, the adaptive dampers and a chassis setup that makes the standard GTI feel slightly under-tyred by comparison.
One owner from new, eighteen thousand miles, full Volkswagen history and every service done early rather than late. We have carried out an oil and inspection service and changed the DSG oil and filter, which falls due at four years whatever the mileage says.
There are two stone chips on the leading edge of the bonnet and a light scuff on the nearside rear alloy. Ask and we will send you close-ups of both before you travel. We could have had them out before the pictures were taken; we would rather you knew about them now than found them on the forecourt.
