Our view
Volvo capped the XC60 at 112mph and nobody has ever complained, because what this car does instead is cover three hundred motorway miles without anybody in it getting tired. The B5 diesel is the pick of the range for anyone doing real mileage — forty-seven to the gallon, four-wheel drive, and 480Nm for towing.
One owner, twenty-seven thousand miles, full Volvo history. It came in with 4mm on the fronts, which is legal and which most dealers would have advertised as ‘good tread’. We have put four new Michelin CrossClimates on it instead.
The Plus Dark specification is the sensible one: heated everything, the Harman Kardon system, the panoramic roof and the darkened trim, without the twenty-one-inch wheels that make these ride badly on County Durham roads.
